The Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, St. Louis Chapter is committed to protecting the privacy of clients, donors, volunteers, board members, staff, and any other individual whose information is capture in the typical proceedings of business. This Policy applies to AAFA-STL’s collection and use of personal data in connection with Bloomerang, AAFA-STL’s chosen third party donor database software, and Apricot, AAFA-STL’s client database software.

Personal Information We Collect

We collect personal data that is provided to us, either from clients applying for our services, donors contributing financial support via check or using Bloomerang, supporters and volunteers submitting ‘Contact Us’ forms, or otherwise interacting with us at conferences, community events, or fundraisers. Generally, this information is requested when one makes a financial contribution or requests to subscribe to e-mail newsletters, complete an online form, download resource information, or when requesting information about or utilizing our program services.

We may collect data about individuals from third parties. We may also get obtain information from publicly-available sources, like DonorSearch, and social networking sites, like LinkedIn or a donor organization’s website.

Use of your Personal Information

In addition to the purposes described when we collect data from you, we may use your personal information in the following ways:

  • Marketing Communications: We may contact individuals about events, client stories, AAFA-STL news and updates, or other programmatic content. We may send these communications via email or postal mail, call an individual’s mobile, home, or organization phone, and others. If supporters would no longer like to receive such emails, the “Unsubscribe” instructions at the end of each email are available. An e-mail address will be removed from our marketing list. Opting out of other communication methods is available by calling the AAFA-STL office or emailing via webform.
  • Compliance and Safety: We may use your personal data to comply with our legal obligations and to identify and remediate suspected or actual fraudulent activity or security incidents.

Sharing Personal Information

AAFA-STL may share your personal information as necessary to provide services and information, or as one specifically requests. We may disclose data to our affiliated organizations and subsidiaries, and to service providers who render services to us or on our behalf. Access to Personal Information

Clients, Donors, Volunteers, Board members, and Staff may review and update this information at any time on Bloomerang or Apricot or by calling the AAFA-STL office. Registered users can view and edit personal information they have already given us.

Information Collected from Children

AAFA-STL’s website is a general audience site, and we do not knowingly collect information about children or sell products to children. Those under the age of 13 must ask a parent or guardian to assist in using our website. Furthermore, we may restrict entries to any contests, sweepstakes or promotions to entrants who are at least 18 years of age. We do not sell data of children.

Security of your Personal Information

We restrict access to personal information collected about clients and donors to our employees, our affiliates’ employees, those who are otherwise specified in this policy or others who need to know that information to provide services or in the course of conducting our business operations or activities. While no website can guarantee exhaustive security, we maintain appropriate physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect personal information collected via Bloomerang or Apricot. We protect our databases with various physical, technical and procedural measures and we restrict access to your information by unauthorized persons. We also advise all AAFA-STL employees about their responsibility to protect private data and we provide them with appropriate guidelines for adhering to our company’s business ethics standards and confidentiality policies. Inside AAFA-STL, data is stored in password controlled servers with limited access.

DonorSearch provides data intelligence to nonprofit customers to help them identify and engage constituents to support their missions. This business collects personal information from data compiling companies, non-private websites containing publicly available information, and government entities. We only collect data on US individuals at least 18 years old.

We collect this data for business purposes of internal research, internal operations, auditing, detecting security incidents, debugging, short-term and transient use, fulfilling and improving our Services, quality control, and legal compliance.

Changes

AAFA-STL reserves the right to make changes to this privacy policy at any time, and requests that you review this policy for updates.
